I Met My Younger Self For Coffee Today

You may have seen the social media trend recently, with people sharing ideas about what they would say to their younger self if they met up for a coffee. I like this particularly social media trend, so here is mine:

I met my younger self for coffee and told her...

That it's okay not to have everything figured out. The paths that seem so clear now will twist and turn, leading to places she can't even imagine yet—and that's the beauty of it.

I told her to trust her instincts, even when they lead her away from what's comfortable or expected. To embrace the challenges, not as roadblocks, but as stepping stones that will build resilience and shape her into the leader she's meant to be.

I reminded her that it's not about having all the answers but about asking the right questions. And that building genuine connections will be her greatest asset—bridges to opportunities she won't see coming but will be ready for because of the relationships she’s nurtured.

I told her not to be afraid to take up space, to voice her ideas even when they feel half-formed because they'll grow stronger with each conversation. And that the moments of doubt? They’re just proof that she’s pushing boundaries.

Most importantly, I told her to remember that success isn't just about achievements; it's about impact, growth, and staying true to her values, no matter the noise around her.

I left her with a smile, knowing she'd make mistakes, learn, and eventually become the person sitting across from her now, sipping coffee and carrying stories of courage, perseverance, and purpose.

She looked at me with wide eyes, hope flickering behind the uncertainty. And as we parted ways, I realized that meeting her wasn't about giving her the answers—it was about reminding myself how far I’ve come.

What about you? What would you tell your younger self and what would you take away from the conversation?
